Offering user friendly and cost effective damp proofing high performance Homegard DPC was specified during the construction of 28 dwellings by Swansea Housing Association. The BBA approved pitch polymer DPC was applied by main contractors E.Turner & Sons to provide a complete water and water vapour resistant package.

The homes included semi-detached houses and blocks of four and six flats. Simple to install, Homegard undergoes a unique surface heat treatment during manufacture, to promote excellent mortar adhesion.

The system was also used to achieve detailing around the construction of timber frames, for windows and doors, and in designing cill and lintel cavity trays. E Turner & Sons found Marley Waterproofing's extensive technical literature a perfect guide.

Mick Bailey, Site Manager, said: "Homegard is a cost effective and high performance system with BBA approval. It is also flexible and simple to install - especially in colder weather - making it a first choice for specifiers and installers alike".

Homegard has been specially formulated for use in housing construction and remains stable at both low and high temperatures. It remains flexible in cold conditions and will not crack, as is common with bitumen DPC's. In very warm conditions, Homegard out-performs bitumen DPC's by not becoming tacky and oozing out, marking the walls. In fact Homegard will not extrude, even under heavy compressive loads.
