The construction of eleven new penthouse suites above a North London high-rise development has provided one of the first applications for Marley Waterproofing's new Ledgard damp-proof coursing.
Specified by contractors Dove Brothers, on behalf of Majorstate Limited, Ledgard was used throughout the two new floors of Boydell Court to provide high performance cavity tray and cloak details.
Project Manager for Dove Brothers, Mr David St. John, said: "This was a particularly demanding contract where we were raising the height of the building, which has a girth in excess of 200 metres, from eight to 10 floors. It involved erecting a new steel frame on top of the original reinforced concrete structure and then raising the brick and block cavity walls around the steelwork".
"The installation not only involved laying Ledgard into the cavity construction at ninth and tenth floor levels, but also fitting it around the stanchions.".
Ledgard was also used in a number of plant rooms located behind the new mansard roof. Ledgard's superior performance derives from its composite construction which features a continuous lead core reinforced with a tough quality hessian and with a polymer modified bituminous coating
